Och’Idoma palace – Renovation and reconstruction

Och’Idoma palace proposed and approval of architectural design for the renovation and reconstruction of the palace located at Otukpo in Benue state, the headquarters of Idoma nation by His Royal Majesty. Agabaidu,  Dr. Elias Ikoyi Obekpa, Och’idoma IV and the Idoma Area Traditional Council (IATC) has successfully taking place. According to source close to the palace, and that was present at the approval ceremony, assert that the renovation and reconstruction of the royal palace will commence and be completed in no distance time.

Och’Idoma palace renovation and reconstruction good news was broken by the deputy governor of Benue State. Engr. Benson Abunu, who brought the architect of the building, and other senior government officials to Och’idoma Palace. Where with the assistance of His Royal Majesty, the project was finalized and finally approved. He explained that attempts to do so had previously been unsuccessful, as His Royal Majesty was unwell and away from the state when they came to the palace to get his opinion.

He stated that the original project of Och’Idoma palace which was first completed in 2018 and needed to be modified to reflect current realities, includes several sites that correspond to the status of the palace of the supreme ruler of the Idoma nation. Also speaking on the proposed and approved new Och’Idoma palace, Engr. Agaba Ikwu, managing director of the project company Intra Engineering and Turnkey Ltd, explained that the building consists of a main palace, an administrative building, an office block, and a clinic with amenities such as a gym, library and museum included and other amenities.

In his comments, Och’idoma, Agabaidu Dr Elias Ikoyi Obekpa thanked Deputy Governor engr. Benson Abunu and Governor Samuel Orthom for the project, which he said he was very happy. He praised Engr. Abunu for his passion and interest in the implementation of the project, and assured the contractor of his support and support of  the Idoma Region Traditional Council as they began work on it. Chief of the first apa/agatu class of the Intermediate Traditional Council Chieftain, Baba Odangla, Chief Otukpo/Ohimini Intermediate Traditional Council, Chief Emmanuel Okochi, Oche K’apa, Chief John Antenyi, Ada Ohimini, Chief John Ochai and Ada Okpokwu, Chief James Okefe and many other traditional rulers were in attendance. Och’Idoma palace renovation ceremony was successful to the glory of almighty God.
